Cwmbran was planned as a new town, and many of its homes sit on estates with open greens, avenues and neat front and back gardens. Mowing a small lawn every week can feel like a chore, particularly when it gets heavy foot traffic. Artificial grass gives a smart, even finish that stays green, and we lay it on a firm base built for the job.
We begin by measuring up and checking the ground, then explain how we would prepare it. You will know where edging goes, how the grass meets paving or borders, and what to expect when we turn up to start.
Estate gardens tend to be compact and rectangular, which suits artificial grass well. A single clean roll can cover most of a back lawn with few joins, and the straight edges of a planned layout make for crisp finishing against paths and fences. The aim is a lawn that looks the same in January as it does in June, with no bare patches.
Cwmbran has wooded hills behind it and plenty of garden hedges along boundaries, which means shade and falling leaves in some plots. Real lawns under that kind of cover go thin and mossy. Artificial grass holds its look, though you will still want to sweep leaves off occasionally. We can also trim a hedge while we are there. That means one visit can sort the lawn and the boundary together.
First the old turf is lifted and the soil dug out to the depth the sub-base needs. That base is spread and compacted in layers, then covered with a weed membrane and a fine levelling layer, which is compacted again. Done carefully, this gives a flat, firm surface that drains and does not sink. We check the fall of the ground at this stage so rain moves off the surface instead of settling.
The turf is cut to your Cwmbran garden, laid in one direction and joined so the seams are tidy. It is fixed along strong edging, then brushed to lift the pile. If you want a path, a seating spot or a play zone marked out within the lawn, tell us at the start so we can plan around it. Everything is swept up and removed before we leave.
After installation there is no mowing, feeding or reseeding. A quick brush, a rinse when needed and a sweep of leaves are enough. We work across the area, including Llantarnam, Pontnewydd, Croesyceiliog and Henllys, so get in touch from anywhere around Cwmbran and we will arrange a time to come and see the garden. We are glad to answer any questions first.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Cwmbran.

Artificial grass suits small, shady or well-used gardens that are tiresome to mow, provided it is laid on a properly prepared, well-drained base.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes. Small, regular gardens are some of the easiest to do well. We measure the space, check the levels and work out where the joins fall, so the lawn looks clean and the edges meet your paving and fence neatly.
A properly compacted base is what keeps it flat under regular use. Because we build and level that layer carefully before any turf goes down, the surface should stay even. Occasional brushing helps the fibres stand back up in busy spots.
Please clear small items and anything you want to keep. We can work around mature shrubs and borders, and we can help remove old sheds or planters if you tell us beforehand, so the area is ready when we start.
