Swansea trees live with salt-laden wind, steep suburbs and exposed gardens, and over the years that wear shows in broken limbs, lopsided crowns and deadwood. Our tree surgery in Swansea covers reductions, dismantling of large or awkward trees, deadwood removal and the clearing of storm damage, with the work planned around your property and neighbours.
If a tree has been worrying you through the winter gales, it is sensible to have it looked at before the next one arrives, not afterwards, when a limb may already be through a roof or across the road.

Constant wind off Swansea Bay shapes trees as they grow. Many lean away from the coast, have heavy growth on one side or carry long branches that act like sails in a gale. A well-judged reduction can lighten that load and ease the strain on the trunk and roots, without turning the tree into a stump or spoiling its natural appearance, and we explain how much we would take off and why.
Where a tree has already split, rotted or been partly uprooted, removal is the safer answer. We take such trees down in sections, lowering each piece on ropes, which matters where roofs, greenhouses and conservatories sit close to the trunk and there is very little spare ground to work in. Every cut is planned before we climb, starting with the limbs that carry the most weight over the house or fence.

Many Swansea suburbs climb the hills, and gardens are often stepped or sloped. Access for timber can be limited to a side path or a steep drive, so we plan how material comes out before we begin. Trees in a conservation area, or covered by a preservation order, need the council's consent first, so check with them before you book anything, and we can help you word the enquiry.
We also look for nesting birds, overhead lines and shared boundaries, and we talk to you about any neighbour whose property might be affected. After cutting, we remove the timber and green waste and leave the garden clean, with sawdust and small branches raked or swept away. Tell us about any concerns when we visit, such as a neighbour's greenhouse or a washing line that has to be moved first.
When a winter storm hits Swansea, trees and large limbs can fall onto cars, fences and roofs. We deal with emergency call-outs where a tree threatens a property, making things safe first and clearing up afterwards. We cover Sketty, Mumbles, Morriston, Clydach and Gowerton, so tell us where you are and what has come down, and we will say what we can do.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Most trees are perfectly safe, but certain signs suggest a tree is weakened, and knowing what to look for helps you act before something falls.

Stay calm, keep clear of the tree and any cables, and call for help, because a fallen tree can still be unstable and dangerous long after the wind drops.
Read the guide →It can be. Exposed trees often grow lopsided or carry heavy, overextended branches. A reduction can shorten and lighten them so they are less likely to break in gales. We look at each tree and only suggest what it needs.
Yes. We take it down in sections, lowering each piece with ropes rather than dropping it. We assess the position, the access and anything fragile nearby first, then explain how we would do it before we start any work.
Contact City and County of Swansea Council with your address and ask about Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas. Do that before cutting anything. If the answer is unclear, tell us what they say and we will help you decide.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
