Swansea gardens get a lot of weather. Wind comes off the bay, salt travels on the air, and many of the suburbs sit on hillsides that catch it all. A fence here has to be put up with care or it will lean, loosen and fail early. We supply and fit garden fencing in Swansea, with posts set firmly and panels fixed securely for exposed positions.
Whether you are replacing a fence the last gale flattened or putting in a new boundary for the first time, we will visit, look at the garden and talk through the options with you, so you know what to expect from the work.

In Swansea, wind is the main test of any fence. A solid panel catches it like a sail, and weak posts will start to lean within a season or two. We dig deep, set every post firmly, check it for plumb and fix the panels at every edge, so the load is shared across the whole run and not left on a couple of nails.
Salt-laden air and damp are hard on timber and fixings alike, so detail counts. Gravel boards lift the panels clear of wet ground, post caps shed rain, and good fixings resist rust. We cannot make timber last forever, but careful building and a little upkeep give a fence a fair chance of ageing well, even in an exposed position. A yearly look over helps.

Many Swansea suburbs, from Sketty to Morriston, climb away from the bay, so gardens tilt and boundaries run across a slope. We plan the fence to follow the ground, stepping or raking the panels, and we keep the line straight and the top neat so it looks right from the house as well as from the street. That is the approach we take.
Closer to the coast the bigger challenge is exposure. A fence with open gaps or a lower height can let wind pass through rather than push against it, which is gentler on posts. If privacy matters more, close-board with extra-firm posts is the stronger route. We will talk through the trade-off for your plot, so you can decide. Both approaches work well.
Before you replace a boundary in Swansea, speak to your neighbour about the line and ownership, and check height rules with the council, especially beside a road or in a conservation area. Once the new fence is up, we take the old one away so nothing is left behind in the garden. We also cover Sketty, Mumbles, Morriston, Clydach and Gowerton.

For privacy, solid timber close-board or well-made lapped panels on firm posts usually work well, provided the fence suits your wind, slope and boundary.

Timber is the familiar, adaptable choice for most gardens, while composite trades a higher outlay for less upkeep, so the right answer depends on your priorities.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →We cannot promise it, but a well-built fence stands a far better chance. Deep, firm posts, secure fixings and sometimes a more open style reduce the load that wind puts on the structure, and we will explain the choice for your garden.
Salt and damp can shorten the life of timber and fixings. Gravel boards, post caps and corrosion-resistant fixings help, as does keeping the base of the fence clear of soil and plants. Regular treatment of the timber also helps.
Yes. We look at what has failed, whether the posts snapped, rotted or pulled out, and replace what is needed. We also take away the damaged panels, and can suggest stronger posts or a different style for next time.
