Bridgend is a busy market and commuter town on the River Ogmore, with older streets in the centre and newer estates spreading out towards the Vale and the valley edges. Tree problems differ across that range, from big old trees in mature gardens to young trees planted close to houses on newer plots. We provide tree surgery for all of them.
That means crown reductions, deadwood removal, sectional felling and clearing storm-damaged trees. We work in Pencoed, Porthcawl, Ogmore-by-Sea, Brackla and Coity too, so wherever you are around Bridgend, we can come out to look at the tree and give you a straight answer.

In the older parts of Bridgend, gardens often contain trees that were there before the houses around them, or were planted when the street was built. These can reach well over rooflines, and a heavy limb above a conservatory or an extension is a worry. A reduction or selective thinning can lessen the weight and let in more light without losing the tree altogether.
Where a tree is too close to a house, drain or wall to keep, we dismantle it in sections. Each piece is cut and lowered rather than dropped, which matters when space is limited and neighbours are close. We look at the surroundings first, including cables, boundary fences and what is growing below, and we plan the order of cuts before anyone climbs.

On newer Bridgend estates, trees were often planted on small plots, and a few years later they have grown into fences, patios or the view from a bedroom window. Fast-growing species in particular can outgrow their place. We can talk through whether a trim will do or whether replanting something better suited is a more sensible answer. If anything is unclear, we will explain it before we start.
Before we start, we check for Tree Preservation Orders and conservation area rules through the local council, because newer developments sometimes have conditions on existing or planted trees. We also look carefully for nesting birds. If we find an active nest, we explain the situation and, where needed, wait until the nest is empty before cutting. Spring and summer can affect timing, so it helps to ask early.
Bridgend sits where the Vale meets the valleys, and strong westerlies can bring down limbs or whole trees. If a tree is on a house, a car or a road, we treat it as an emergency call-out and make the area safe first. Once the work is done, we take the timber and green waste away and leave the garden tidy, so you are not stuck with a pile of branches.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Most trees are perfectly safe, but certain signs suggest a tree is weakened, and knowing what to look for helps you act before something falls.

Stay calm, keep clear of the tree and any cables, and call for help, because a fallen tree can still be unstable and dangerous long after the wind drops.
Read the guide →Warning signs include dead or hanging branches, cracks in the trunk, fungus at the base, and a lean that is getting worse. If you see any of these, have it looked at. We will inspect the tree and tell you whether it needs work or is fine.
Overhanging branches can generally be cut back to the boundary, but the cuttings still belong to the tree's owner, and a protected tree needs permission first. Talking with your neighbour is usually wise. We can advise on what is sensible and carry out the work once it is agreed.
Yes. Many of our tree jobs are smaller, such as taking off one heavy limb, lifting a low canopy or clearing deadwood. We will tell you honestly if a tree needs only a light trim rather than anything bigger.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
