Bridgend is a busy market and commuter town on the River Ogmore, with older streets in the centre and newer estates spreading out towards the Vale and the valley edges. Trees in these gardens vary hugely, from tall old specimens to fast-growing conifers planted when a house was built. We offer tree felling in Bridgend, taking trees down safely and clearing away afterwards.
Send us a few details or ask us to call, and we will look at the tree before suggesting anything. If it can be saved with a reduction or some deadwood removal, we will tell you, and if it needs to come down, we will explain how.

In an older Bridgend street, a tree usually stands close to the house, a neighbour's wall and the pavement, so there is very little room to work. In a newer estate the plots are tidy, but boundaries are tight and fences are close together. Either way, felling means climbing, cutting in sections and lowering each piece with ropes so nothing drops where it should not.
The reasons for felling are familiar. A tree may be dead, diseased, leaning, split in a storm or just too big for its place, or it may be a conifer that has outgrown the garden. We examine the base, the trunk and the canopy and tell you honestly whether felling is needed or whether something lighter would do, such as taking a few heavy limbs off.

Before felling, check with Bridgend County Borough Council about Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas, since protected trees need consent. Trees on a newer development can also be covered by conditions attached to the original planning permission, which the council can tell you about. We can help you put the question to them, and we wait for the answer before starting any cutting.
After the tree is down, the stump can be left cut low or ground out by arrangement, depending on what the space will be used for. We log the timber and take it away with the green waste, and leave the site swept, with the lawn and paths raked clear of sawdust. If you want logs for your own use, say so in advance and we will stack them.
We cover the whole Bridgend area, including Pencoed, Porthcawl, Ogmore-by-Sea, Brackla and Coity. If you have more than one tree to remove, such as a dead one and an overgrown conifer, it usually makes sense to deal with them in a single visit and agree everything at once. Also tell us if a neighbour shares a tree, so that we can plan the work with both of you in mind.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Bridgend.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes. We climb the tree and dismantle it in sections, lowering the pieces so fences, sheds and neighbouring properties are not at risk. We check access on the first visit and tell you how we plan to carry everything out.
Sometimes. Planning conditions on a development can cover trees, and some may be protected by an order. The council can check this from your address, so ask before booking and let us know what they say, so that we can plan the timing around it.
Yes. We log the timber, remove the green waste and leave the area clear and swept. If you want to keep some logs for a stove or fire, tell us beforehand and we will leave them stacked for you.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
