Cardiff has more mature trees than most places, from big Victorian and Edwardian gardens to leafy suburbs where conifers and old broadleaves loom over rooflines. When one of them dies, splits or is simply unwanted, it has to be taken down with care. We provide tree felling in Cardiff, dismantling in sections wherever houses, wires or neighbours are close.
We will look at the tree, explain what we would do and what happens afterwards, and leave the decision to you. If it is a close call between felling and a reduction, we will say which we would choose.

In a typical Cardiff street the trees are tall, the plots are narrow and the neighbours are only a fence away. Felling in one piece is rarely possible, so we climb and take the tree down in controlled sections, lowering each one on ropes. This protects roofs, conservatories, cars and shared walls, and it keeps the job calm and predictable. Cardiff gardens rarely allow shortcuts.
The usual reasons are familiar: a dead or diseased tree, a lean that is getting worse, storm damage, or a conifer that has grown far beyond what was intended. We examine the trunk, the roots and the crown, and tell you plainly what we find. If the tree could stay with a reduction instead, we will say so. We also check for decay in the base.

Cardiff has conservation areas in several leafy neighbourhoods, and many trees are protected by orders. Please check with Cardiff Council before any felling is agreed, since consent is needed for protected trees and for most trees in a conservation area. We are happy to help you prepare the question and wait for the council's answer before cutting. Cardiff Council can confirm quickly.
Once a tree is down, the stump can be left cut low or ground out by arrangement. We log the timber and take it away along with the green waste, and leave the area swept. Nesting birds are also a consideration in spring and summer, so we plan the timing around them wherever we can. The garden is left ready to use.
Large garden trees are common in places like Llandaff, Whitchurch and Rhiwbina, and we take on felling jobs across Cardiff. We also cover Penylan, St Mellons and Pontprennau. If you have several trees to remove, a single visit usually makes the most sense, so tell us how many there are and where they stand in the garden. We work around parked cars and narrow roads.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Yes, usually. We climb and take it down in sections, lowering each piece rather than dropping it. We look at the position, any wires and the access first, then explain our approach before agreeing to begin the work.
By arrangement, yes. The stump can also be left cut low if that suits the garden better. Tell us what you plan for the space, such as lawn, patio or new planting, and we will agree the right option with you before work.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
