Cowbridge has a long main street, but step off it and the gardens open up, with big village-edge plots, farmland beyond and tall boundary trees that have been growing for a very long time. When one of them needs to come down, we fell it carefully in Cowbridge, taking it in sections or in one piece depending on the space around it.
We take down dead, diseased, leaning and storm-damaged trees, and we also remove shrubs and conifers that have grown past their welcome. Tell us what you have and we will arrange a visit. A few details about the tree and its position are enough to start.

The tall trees along the edge of a Cowbridge garden are often the ones that cause the most worry. They overhang a neighbour, lean over a lane or shade half the lawn, and nobody wants to be the person who left it too long. Because these plots are usually roomy, there is often a way to fell or dismantle them without disturbing the rest of the garden.
Where space is tighter, such as beside an outbuilding or close to the house, we climb and take the tree down in controlled sections. Each piece is lowered rather than dropped, and we keep the ground below clear. It takes more time than a straight fell, but it protects roofs, fences, and the lawn you have looked after. If a crane or large machine is not needed, we will not suggest one.

Before any tree in Cowbridge is felled, the legal position needs checking. A Tree Preservation Order or conservation area status can mean the council must be asked first, and in a historic town that is not unusual. We make that enquiry with the council on your behalf before booking any work, and tell you the outcome plainly. The check takes little time and avoids needless trouble for you.
Trees that stand on a boundary can belong to more than one property, so it is wise to speak to the neighbour early. We often work near field hedges and farmland gates too, and we will plan around them. We also cover Llanblethian, Llantwit Major, Llandough and St Hilary, so just say where you are. Please mention any gates, gravel or soft ground we need to cross.
After the felling we cut the timber into logs and take away the green waste, so there is no pile of branches left to deal with in your Cowbridge garden. The stump can be left cut low or ground out by arrangement, depending on whether you plan to replant, extend the lawn or build something there. Ask beforehand if you would like logs left for burning.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Usually, though it is worth speaking to your neighbour first, especially if the trunk stands on the boundary. We can dismantle it in sections so nothing falls into their garden, and we keep the site clear throughout. Please tell us how you would like branches on your side handled.
Yes. We log the timber and remove the green waste as part of the job. If you want the logs for a stove or fire, tell us beforehand and we will stack them where you would like them.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
