Pontypridd sits where the Taff and Rhondda rivers meet, with Ynysangharad Park by the water and terraced hillsides climbing away from the town. Gardens slope, access can be awkward and trees often stand close to houses. We take down trees in Pontypridd safely, whole where possible and in sections where the plot is tight.
Whether a tree is dead, leaning, storm-damaged or just too big for its place, send us a few details and we will arrange a visit to look at it with you. Photographs help, but we prefer to see the tree and the access for ourselves.

The felling itself is only half the challenge in a Pontypridd garden. Once a tree is in sections, those sections have to go somewhere, and on a slope a heavy log can roll or slide. We plan the stacking point and the route out before we start, so that nothing gets away from us on the way down, onto a path, a lower garden or the neighbour below.
Often we cut smaller pieces from the top and lower them on a rope to a flat spot, then process them there. Larger trunk sections are taken out the shortest safe way, which may be down steps, along a lane or through the house. We protect the ground and walls on the route and go through it with you first. If the ground is soft after rain, we may suggest waiting for drier weather.

Many gardens in Pontypridd back onto wooded valley sides, so a tree at the top of a plot may be partly yours and partly someone else's. Before we cut anything on a boundary, we help you check who owns it. We also ask the council about Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas, because protected trees need permission first, and that applies to a tree in your own garden as much as one in a public place.
Sharing the plan with neighbours is a good idea, especially where a trunk leans across a fence. We cover Treforest, Taffs Well, Trallwn, Rhydyfelin and Llantwit Fardre as well as the town itself. Please mention any steps, lanes or gates that we should know about, because on a terraced hillside the way in is often the hardest part of the job, and the cutting is the easier bit.
When the tree is down we log the timber and take the green waste away, leaving your Pontypridd garden clear. The stump can be cut low or ground out by arrangement, whichever fits your plans for the space. Grinding makes sense if you want to lay a lawn or patio there, while a low stump can simply be left if nothing is going in. If you would like logs kept for the stove, let us know.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Pontypridd.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Not because of the river as such, but protection orders and conservation area rules can still apply. We check with the council before booking, and if anything needs permission, we wait until it is in place and tell you plainly what the council has said.
Usually. We look at the lean, the roots and what sits beneath, then dismantle it in sections so it does not fall across the boundary. It is courteous to tell the neighbour in advance, and we keep the area below clear while cutting.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
