With the Taff and Rhondda rivers meeting in the town, Pontypridd is built on slopes. Rows of terraces step up the hillsides, and the back gardens go with them, often small, steep and bordered by hedges that have been left to do their own thing. We trim those hedges back to size, whether you have a short front hedge or a long, tall run along the back.
We keep the work simple: cut the hedge, clear the clippings, sweep up. You do not have to hire a skip or make trips to the tip, and you do not have to clamber about on a bank with a ladder.

In terraced streets, a hedge can easily take up a good part of a small garden. Left to grow, it steals light from the windows and narrows the path. Trimming it back gives some of that space back. We reduce the width as well as the height, which makes a bigger difference than a light surface trim and keeps the hedge in a size you can live with.
Many back gardens in Pontypridd slope steeply, and the hedge sits at the top or the bottom of the bank. Reaching the top of a hedge from below, or the bottom from above, needs thought. We decide how to stand and where to set up before the first cut, and we avoid working in a way that puts us or your fence at risk.

The wooded slopes around Pontypridd bring seeds, leaves and shade into nearby gardens. Hedges at the woodland edge pick up sycamore seedlings, bramble and ivy quickly, and the whole boundary can start to look wild. We cut out what does not belong, shape what does, and leave a clear line between your garden and the trees beyond it. Cutting these edges back regularly stops them taking over again.
If you are near Ynysangharad Park or one of the busier roads, you may have a front hedge people pass every day. Those get a crisp, neat finish. For back boundaries that nobody sees, we focus on keeping the hedge healthy and at a sensible height, so it is easier to manage next time. Tell us which approach you want for each side.
Hedges in Pontypridd are home to nesting birds in the warmer months, and we always look before we cut. An active nest is left in peace and the work is rearranged if needed. When we do trim, we clear every bit of green waste and leave your steps and paths clean. We also cover Treforest, Taffs Well, Trallwn, Rhydyfelin and Llantwit Fardre.

Most garden hedges need cutting once or twice a year, but the right rhythm depends on the plant, the shape you want and the nesting season.

Hedge cutting is priced on the job in front of us, and a handful of practical factors explain why two hedges that look similar can need very different amounts of work.

Some hedges just need a single tidy-up, while others stay manageable only with planned visits, and the right choice depends on the hedge and how you use your garden.
Read the guide →It depends on the species. Some shoot back well from a hard cut and others, like conifers, do not. We will tell you what is realistic before we start, and cut in stages if that gives the plant the strongest chance of recovering.
Usually, yes. We plan access and footing for each garden. If the only route is by steps or a narrow path, we carry the kit and clippings by hand and take the waste out in loads. Wet ground is something we plan for.
We trim the sides, top and face you can reach. If the other side is in a neighbour's garden, we may need their permission and access. It helps to have a quick word with them first. We handle the clippings from your side.
