Newport is a city on the River Usk, mixing Victorian terraces, parks such as Belle Vue Park and large suburban estates, with plenty of mature street trees in between. Garden trees here are close to houses and neighbours, so we take care. We fell trees in Newport in sections or whole, depending on the room we have.
We deal with dead, diseased, leaning and storm-damaged trees, and with shrubs and conifers that have outgrown their place. Tell us about the tree and we will arrange a visit. Photographs help, and we will always come and look.

In the terraced streets of Newport a back garden can be narrow, with a wall on each side and a lane behind, so there is rarely room to drop a tree. We take it down in sections, lowering each one on a rope and carrying the cut wood out the shortest safe way. Neighbours are usually close, so we tell them what to expect.
The suburban estates are different. Gardens are larger, but the trees are often tall and close to the house, the garage or a neighbour's fence. The approach stays the same, with careful sectional work, and we use the space available to keep the timber stacked and the mess contained. We explain it all on the visit. Some of these trees were planted when the estates were new.

Trees on the pavement or in a park belong to the council, not to you, and they are not ours to touch. If a street tree worries you, report it to the council. For trees on your own property, we check whether a Tree Preservation Order or conservation area applies and, if so, what permission is needed first. If you are unsure who owns it, ask us.
Newport has a number of conservation areas, so the check is worth doing. We also work around Caerleon, Bettws, Rogerstone, Maindee and Duffryn. Wherever the garden is, give us the address and we will look into it before booking the work, so you hear the answer from us beforehand. A tree close to a park boundary is worth checking too. Ask us if you are unsure.
Once the tree is down we log the timber and take away the green waste, leaving your Newport garden ready to use. The stump can be cut low or ground out by arrangement, depending on whether you plan to lay a patio, plant something new or simply have more lawn. If you would like logs for burning, tell us beforehand.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Newport.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Yes, using sectional dismantling. We lower each piece on a rope and carry the wood out by the shortest safe route. Tell us about access, whether through the house or by a back lane, when you get in touch.
Check whether it has a Tree Preservation Order or stands in a conservation area. We do that check for you with the council before booking. If permission is needed, we wait for it before any cutting starts. We explain the outcome plainly.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
