Brecon is a cathedral market town in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog, and its stone-built houses often come with large gardens, old orchard remnants and field boundaries lined with tall trees. When one of those trees dies, splits or leans, it has to be dealt with carefully. We provide tree felling in Brecon for gardens, yards and the edges of fields, using sectional methods wherever space is tight.
We visit first, tell you plainly what we see and agree a plan before any cutting starts. If the tree is not ours to remove, we will tell you that too, and explain who to speak to. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.

Larger Brecon gardens give more room to work, and sometimes we can fell a tree in one piece if the drop zone is clear of walls, wires and outbuildings. More often there is a house, a stone wall or a lane within reach of the falling timber, so we climb and take the tree down in sections. Each piece is lowered on ropes, which keeps everything beneath it safe.
Dead ash, storm-split limbs and old trees with rotten hearts are the usual reasons people ring us. Field-edge and boundary trees add another question, which is who owns them. If it is on your land, we can deal with it. If it belongs to a neighbour or the farm next door, you will need their agreement before we touch it. Brecon boundaries can be old and unclear.

Because Brecon lies within a national park, it is sensible to speak to Powys council or the park authority about Tree Preservation Orders and conservation area status before any tree is felled. Protected trees need consent. Bats and nesting birds are also common in old trees here, and they have legal protection too, so tell us if you have seen any. Better to ask than guess.
If wildlife is a concern, we may need to delay the work or change how we approach it. When we do fell, the stump can be left cut low or ground out by arrangement, the timber is logged, and green waste is taken away. We leave the site clear and swept, so the garden is usable again. The Brecon site is left usable.
Beyond single trees, we can remove overgrown conifers and shrubs, and trees that have crept into hedgerows around Brecon. These are often easier to deal with in one visit than piece by piece. We also cover Talybont-on-Usk, Libanus, Sennybridge and Llanfrynach, so ask if you are outside town. Please tell us what is involved. Old orchard trees and gate-side conifers are included.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Brecon.

Often you can fell a garden tree freely, but protected trees and larger amounts of timber need checks first, and this guide explains who to ask.

Taking a tree down should rarely be the first choice, but sometimes it is the only responsible one, and knowing which situation you are in saves worry.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

Bats and nesting birds are legally protected, so we do not disturb them. If you think a tree is used by either, tell us. Work may have to wait until nesting is over or until you have taken proper advice.
Only if it is yours, or you have the owner's agreement. We can look at the tree, the access and the neighbouring land, then explain how we would take it down safely. Sectional felling helps where stock or fences are close.
