Brecon is a cathedral market town at the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog, with stone-built houses, large gardens and farmland close by. Fences here do two jobs, keeping a garden private in town and holding a boundary against open fields further out. We fit new garden fencing and replace worn panels and posts in Brecon, and we take the old fence away when the work is done.
Tell us the length and what you want to achieve, and we will suggest a sensible style and layout. We will talk through posts, height and finish, and agree the details before any work begins, so nothing about the boundary comes as a surprise.

Many Brecon gardens are generous, and a boundary that runs the full length of a big plot is a serious piece of fencing. We measure it carefully, set out the posts at even spacing and keep the line straight over the whole distance. Over a long run, a small error at the start can become a large one at the end, so we check as we go.
Stone walls often form part of the boundary, and a new fence has to meet them neatly. We cut and fit panels around walls, gateposts and existing planting, and use gravel boards so the timber sits clear of the soil. If a section of old wall is doing the job, we leave it and fence only the part that needs replacing. That saves money and keeps the character of the plot.

Plots on the edge of town in Brecon often back onto fields, and livestock, wind and open weather all test the fence. Posts need to go in firmly and the timber has to be sturdy. We discuss with you whether a solid close-board fence or a more open panel style suits the position, and how much shelter or privacy you want from the garden.
The Usk and the canal bring damp to the low ground around the town, and wet soil is hard on timber at the base. A raised gravel board is a simple answer, and posts should stand firm in the ground. We explain what we would do for your plot without making promises about how long any fence will last. Our advice is always based on what we can see.
Inside a national park, it is sensible to check fence heights and any local rules with the council before work starts, and to agree the boundary with your neighbours. That avoids trouble later. When we fit a fence in Brecon we take away the old timber and clear up after ourselves. We also cover Talybont-on-Usk, Libanus, Sennybridge and Llanfrynach if you live outside the town.

For privacy, solid timber close-board or well-made lapped panels on firm posts usually work well, provided the fence suits your wind, slope and boundary.

Timber is the familiar, adaptable choice for most gardens, while composite trades a higher outlay for less upkeep, so the right answer depends on your priorities.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes, we can fit a sturdy fence along the back of a garden that meets a field. Tell us what is on the other side, and whether you need it to be stock-proof, as that affects the design. We will advise on suitable timber and posts.
Usually, yes. We cut panels to meet the wall and fix them to well-set posts rather than the stonework. If the wall is crumbling, we will point that out so you can decide how to handle it. It tends to give a firmer result.
There can be extra considerations, so check with the council about height and any local restrictions before you commit. We can talk through the layout, and we are happy to work to whatever limits apply once you know them.
