This Cardiff job replaced a tired boundary fence at the back of a garden beside a conservatory. One photo shows the old panels being taken apart, and the other shows the new close-boarded fence standing in its place. Together they show how the work runs from taking out the old to fitting the new.

The old fence is weathered grey timber, with gaps where boards have come away and a creeper growing through it. A pile of broken boards lies in the foreground, and one of us is working at the end by the conservatory. A drill and a small saw are on the ground. The old posts and rails are removed along with the boards, so that the new line is built on solid footings, not the old ones.
In the second photo the replacement fence runs along the back and down towards the conservatory. Its boards are close together and lap over each other, which gives privacy, and a board sits along the bottom of the run. A rotary washing line and a table stand in front of it. With a boundary fence, the main points to check are who owns the line, the height you want, and whether the ground at the bottom is level. All of these are easier to agree before the old panels come out.
