Caerphilly stretches up the hillsides below the mountain, and gardens here come in every shape, from tight terrace yards to large plots on the newer estates. Wherever the ground slopes, the fence has to follow it, and wherever the wind comes through the valley, the fence has to hold. We fit new fences and replace old panels and posts in Caerphilly, then take the old fence away.
Tell us about your garden and we will suggest a layout that suits the ground. We will talk through posts, heights and finishes, and agree the details with you before any timber is cut, so you know exactly what to expect when we turn up to start.

Hillside gardens are the rule in much of Caerphilly, and a fence on a slope needs planning. We step the panels in neat stages or cut them to follow the fall, and we set the posts so each section is level even though the ground is not. Done properly, the result looks tidy from both sides and keeps small animals from slipping underneath.
On the steepest gardens, access is a challenge in itself. Timber, posts and concrete have to be carried in, sometimes by steps. We plan how to get everything to the right place and how to carry the old fence out. If you can tell us in advance what the route is like, we can prepare for it. We also look after the steps and paths as we work.

In Caerphilly, gardens on the wooded hillsides can be shady and damp, which shortens the life of timber that sits on wet soil. Gravel boards lift the panels clear of the ground, and well-set posts resist movement. We talk through realistic expectations with you, and we never promise what the weather will do to a fence over time. We cut and fit the timber carefully.
Higher up, where the wind funnels through, a solid close-board fence takes a lot of pressure. We suggest heavier posts and tighter fixing in those spots. On the larger estates, long back boundaries are usually straight and flat enough for panel fencing to go up quickly. We will say which style we would pick for your garden. Wherever possible, we keep things simple.
Before fencing in Caerphilly, agree the boundary line with whoever lives next door, and check height limits with the council if the fence will be tall or beside a road. We then take out the old fence, clear the line and fit the new one. We also cover Bedwas, Machen, Senghenydd, Llanbradach and Nelson for fencing work. Just ask.

For privacy, solid timber close-board or well-made lapped panels on firm posts usually work well, provided the fence suits your wind, slope and boundary.

Timber is the familiar, adaptable choice for most gardens, while composite trades a higher outlay for less upkeep, so the right answer depends on your priorities.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes. We step or angle the panels to follow the ground and set the posts so every section stands level. It takes a little more planning than a flat plot, but it gives a neater result. That is usually a quick job to agree.
There are usually limits, particularly at the front of a house or beside a road, so check with the council before you decide. We can work to whatever height is allowed and talk through the options. The council can confirm the rules.
We do both. If only a few panels or one post have failed, we replace those and leave the rest. If the whole run is leaning or rotten, we will say so honestly and explain why. It is better to be clear at the start.
