In Abertillery the back gardens are small, long and often steep, with wooded valley sides above and mountain weather that does not go easy on timber. A fence here has to cope with wind, rain and ground that moves. We supply and fit new garden fencing across Abertillery, and replace old, leaning or broken fences with something solid and straight.
We take the old fence away with us, so the garden is left clear and ready to use. Tell us how steep the garden is and how we get to it, and we will plan the visit so the timber, posts and tools can be carried in and the waste carried back out without fuss.

A fence on sloping ground cannot simply run in a straight line at one height. The panels have to follow the fall of the land, either stepped down in stages or cut to match the gradient. We plan that before we set the first post, so the finished fence looks even and does not leave awkward gaps at the bottom of the panels.
Posts matter more than anything on a bank. We set them firmly, keep them upright, and use gravel boards so the timber stays clear of wet soil. On a steep Abertillery garden that wet ground drains straight past the base of the fence, and the timber lasts longer when it is kept off the damp. We check each post for movement before we fit the panels.

Mountain weather can arrive suddenly in the valley, and a tall, solid fence acts like a sail in a strong gust. For exposed back gardens we often recommend sturdy close-board fencing with well-set posts rather than lightweight panels. In more sheltered plots, standard panels can be perfectly sensible and quicker to build. We will explain what we would use in your garden and why.
Because the wooded slopes sit close by, leaf fall and damp are a constant in many gardens, and that shortens the life of a fence that is not raised from the soil. We talk through realistic expectations with you, without promises, and suggest the sturdiest layout for your Abertillery plot. It is also a chance to think about privacy and where the sun falls.
Terraced streets mean close neighbours, and a fence in Abertillery is often shared along its whole length. Agree the boundary with the people next door before work starts, and check with the council if you plan a tall fence or one by a road. We deal with the old fence and the new one in turn. We also cover Brynithel, Cwmtillery, Blaina and Six Bells.

For privacy, solid timber close-board or well-made lapped panels on firm posts usually work well, provided the fence suits your wind, slope and boundary.

Timber is the familiar, adaptable choice for most gardens, while composite trades a higher outlay for less upkeep, so the right answer depends on your priorities.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.

It is a board along the bottom of the fence that stops the panels sitting on damp soil. We recommend them in wet, sloping gardens because they keep the timber clear of the ground and are easy to replace later.
That is for you and your neighbour to agree, and it depends on whose boundary it is. We can build once the position is settled. It helps to talk to them before we start and agree the line.
