A drive that has gone green or a patio that no longer feels safe to walk on usually just needs a proper clean. We power wash driveways, patios, block paving, paths, decking, steps and walls across Bridgend, lifting moss, algae and ground-in dirt so that the surface looks fresher and gives a better footing.
Bridgend has a mix of older streets and newer estates, and the paving on each tends to be different. We also cover Pencoed, Porthcawl, Ogmore-by-Sea, Brackla and Coity. We protect plants and doors, and adjust our equipment and pressure to suit what we find at each property.

On the newer estates around Bridgend, block-paved drives and small patios are very common. They look sharp when laid, but moss and algae move into the joints, and the surface darkens in shade. Left alone, the joint sand washes out, weeds root in and blocks can begin to shift, so a regular wash tends to prevent a bigger and more disruptive repair later.
Older streets bring a different mix, with concrete slabs, brick paths and worn steps. These can have deep-set dirt and stubborn stains, and the pointing may be fragile. Each type needs a slightly different approach, so we look at the surface first and set the pressure before washing, not the other way round. Algae on steps is also a slip risk, which is a good reason not to put it off.

We clear loose items, sweep off debris and cover or move plants and pots. Then the main areas are washed, with a surface-cleaning head on drives and wide patios and a lance for edges and awkward corners. Water comes from your outside tap, and we try to direct run-off away from doors. Cars should be moved beforehand, and pets and children kept indoors while we work.
Weeds in the joints are removed, and the whole area is rinsed down. Bridgend is a commuter town, so many people are out at work, and that is fine as long as we can reach the tap and the area, so just tell us how to get in. Where something needs attention, such as a loose block or a cracked slab, we point it out.
After a wash, a little upkeep goes a long way. Sweep leaves before they stain, keep gutters clear and trim back anything that drips over the paving. Shaded corners will green up first, so those are worth a quick brush. On block paving in Bridgend, new sand in the joints and a sealer can protect the finish. We can apply them once the surface is dry, if you would like us to.

Most South Wales patios need a proper clean about once a year, though shade, damp and nearby trees can mean more often or a little less.

There is no single perfect month for every tree, but winter suits many species, and this guide shows how timing, nesting birds and weather affect the choice.
Read the guide →It depends on shade, trees and weather, but many drives look better for a wash every year or two. Shady, damp drives may need it sooner. If you spot moss or dark patches forming, that is a sign it is time.
Yes, if we can reach an outside tap and the drive is clear of vehicles. Please move cars before we arrive and tell us about anything delicate, such as a loose slab or a planter we should keep clear of. You can see the result when you are home.
It can wash sand out of the joints, which is why re-sanding afterwards is often sensible. A properly laid surface should stay put. If any blocks are already loose or sunken, we will point them out so you can have them fixed.
