Ivy does not only belong to old cottages. In Cwmbran we see it on garden fences, sheds, brick walls and garage sides, sometimes starting from a neighbour's plot. We cut it back, remove it from the structure and clear the waste so your garden is left neat and workable.
Cwmbran was planned around open green spaces and tree-lined avenues, with hedges and boundaries running close together. We also cover Llantarnam, Pontnewydd, Croesyceiliog, Henllys and Pontypool, so give us the location and we will confirm we can help.

On a planned Cwmbran estate, gardens sit side by side and ivy rarely respects the line between them. It climbs a shared fence, sends tendrils into your border and soon covers both sides. Before we begin, it helps to agree with your neighbours what is being cut and who owns which fence, which is easy when the fences are only a step apart.
We take ivy off your side, cut the stems at the base and strip the growth from the panels and posts. Lightweight fence panels can suffer under a heavy blanket of ivy, so we lift it away gently and tell you if a panel has weakened underneath. Then you know whether the fence needs mending or just uncovering. Panels that have been buried for years are often damper and softer than they look.

Cwmbran gardens often rely on hedges for privacy, and ivy gets into them quickly. We cut it from the hedge plants where we can reach it, clear the thicker stems at the base and pull out the growth that has climbed through. Sheds and garages get the same treatment, including gutters and roof edges we can reach safely, and the cut growth goes out with us.
Brick and render do not always release ivy willingly. Sticky roots may stay behind and need time to come away, and we say so before we start, so nobody expects a spotless wall as soon as the ivy is gone. If there are nesting birds in the growth, we leave that area undisturbed and agree with you when it is better to return, because wildlife takes priority over finishing quickly.
The wooded hills behind Cwmbran and the trees along its avenues mean ivy can climb high. For a garden tree we cut through the stems at the base and clear what we can reach. For a tall tree beside the road we will talk through what is sensible, since that may need a different approach, and you can then decide what, if anything, happens next in Cwmbran.

Ivy comes off brickwork most cleanly when it is cut at the base and left to die back first, rather than ripped away while still alive.

There is no single perfect month for every tree, but winter suits many species, and this guide shows how timing, nesting birds and weather affect the choice.

Yes, it can add weight and hold moisture against the timber, which can speed up rot and loosen panels. We remove the growth carefully and let you know if any panels have weakened underneath. We also check nearby posts for movement before we leave.
We can clear ivy from garage and shed edges, including gutters we can reach safely. If the growth has gone under tiles or felt, we will tell you what we see rather than guess at the damage, and suggest a roofer if that is the right trade.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
