Steep terraced streets and sloping back gardens are typical of Tonypandy, and they give ivy a lot to climb. We cut it back, remove it from walls, fences, outhouses and trees, and clear the cuttings away, so the back of your house is not slowly disappearing behind leaves.
The Rhondda Fawr valley has woodland close to many gardens, and ivy moves easily between the trees and the walls. We also cover Trealaw, Penygraig, Llwynypia, Porth and Clydach Vale, so tell us where your home is and we will arrange a visit.

On a Tonypandy terrace, the back garden often drops or climbs sharply from the house, and the wall at the end can be tall and old. Ivy sits well on a wall like that. It can reach the top, spill over into the next garden and settle against the back of outhouses and gutters. Tonypandy terraces make that gentle approach worthwhile. We take it steadily.
We cut the stems at the base, then take the growth away from the wall in sections. Because pointing and stones on old valley walls can be loose, we work gently and look as we go. If we spot movement or a bulge, we will mention it to you. It saves a small problem becoming a big one. Take your time. Ask us anything you are unsure about.

Many terraces here have narrow back lanes, steps or no rear access at all. That does not stop the job, but it affects how we carry cut ivy out. We talk through the route with you, agree it beforehand and protect the places we pass through, so you are not surprised on the day. A little planning avoids damage to your home and your neighbours. Please do mention any pets.
If the ivy is climbing valley-side trees behind your Tonypandy garden, we cut stems at the base of any tree in your ownership and clear the lower growth. If a tree is large or leaning, we will talk about whether it needs a separate look before any further work takes place. Safety and sense come before speed, every time. We will not push ahead without your agreement.
Before we cut anything in Tonypandy, we check the ivy for nesting birds and leave any occupied section alone. We also tell you that roots on masonry may remain for a while. With that understood, the clearance is straightforward, and the waste leaves with us. That is the whole job, explained plainly. Our aim is a sensible, tidy job without surprises.

Ivy comes off brickwork most cleanly when it is cut at the base and left to die back first, rather than ripped away while still alive.

There is no single perfect month for every tree, but winter suits many species, and this guide shows how timing, nesting birds and weather affect the choice.
Read the guide →Yes, usually. We agree a route through the property or along shared access, and we protect floors and doors. If there is truly no safe way to carry waste out, we will say so. Please tell us about steps and narrow doorways beforehand.
It can push into joints and hold moisture against the stone, especially where pointing is already tired. Clearing it lets you see the wall properly, and we will point out loose areas as we work. Most valley walls have seen a lot of weather.
We can only work on your side, or with the neighbour's agreement. It is sensible to speak to them first, particularly on terraces where walls are shared between several gardens. Please make sure you know which side belongs to whom before booking.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will come back to you, or call 07766 919630 if it is urgent.
