Back gardens in Tonypandy are often steep, narrow and hemmed in by terraced houses, with woodland rising on the valley side behind. Left alone, they quickly fill with brambles, weeds and rubbish. We clear overgrown gardens by hand, take out what has built up and carry the waste away from the site.
We work in the town and in nearby areas such as Trealaw, Penygraig and Llwynypia. Whether it is one back plot or a whole row of gardens being tidied, we can look at the access and agree a plan.

Many Rhondda back gardens are cut into the hillside, with a flight of steps or a steep path from the back door and little flat ground. Machines are rarely practical, so most of the work is done by hand. We cut vegetation in sections, bag or bundle it and carry it out in loads that suit the route, rather than dragging heavy material across the garden.
Steps and banks turn slippery after rain, so we take our time on awkward ground and keep tools and waste off the walkways. It is slower than clearing a flat lawn, but a Tonypandy slope gets cleared without damaging walls or steps, and without a heap of cuttings left blocking the only way up or down the garden. We would rather keep the route safe than hurry.

Over time, a Tonypandy back garden can collect a lot: collapsed fence panels, old sheds, discarded household items, tangled shrubs and drifts of leaves from the trees above. Brambles and ivy hold it all together and make it difficult to see the ground. We cut a way in, then work out from there, which is the only sensible way to get to the bottom of a neglected plot.
Once the surface growth is down, you can see the true state of the walls, steps and boundaries, and decide what to do about them. Rubbish found in the undergrowth goes too, and anything reusable, such as sound timber, is set aside if you ask. If you are planning new fencing, steps or a lawn, this is the point to talk it through with us.
Getting green waste and rubbish out of a steep terraced garden is often the hardest part, so we handle it from start to finish. Everything is carried to our vehicle and taken away, even where access in Tonypandy is only through the house or a narrow lane. We protect floors along the route and sweep up behind us, because the job is not finished until the way out is clean as well.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Tonypandy.

The cost of garden clearance depends on how much there is to remove, how easily it can be reached and what has to be taken away.

A gravel garden can cut mowing and weeding, but only if the ground is cleared and prepared properly first, and the planning matters more than the stones.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes. Plenty of terraced homes in the valley have no rear access. We carry waste through the property, lay down protection where needed and keep the route tidy. We will talk through the route with you before work starts.
We take it slowly and in sections, working with care on steps and banks. If there is a retaining wall or a bank that looks unstable, we point it out rather than disturb it, so you can decide what to do.
Yes. Gardens backing onto woodland often get seedlings, brambles and leaf litter. We cut the growth back and clear the waste. Some regrowth is likely, so we explain what to expect and how often it may need cutting.
