Carmarthen sits among farmland and the Towy valley, and the gardens around it are often large and open, with stone houses, field hedges and plenty of mature trees. A patio is a chance to make a generous outdoor room that suits that setting. We build new patios and paved areas in town and out in the surrounding countryside.
We also cover Llangunnor, Johnstown, Nantgaredig and Abergwili. Tell us what you want from the space, how many people it needs to seat and what is already in the garden, and we will suggest how to get there.

Larger rural gardens give you freedom, but also choices. Do you want the patio against the house, or further down the garden to catch the evening sun and the view? We walk the plot with you in Carmarthen, mark out options on the ground and talk through shelter from the wind, how you will reach it from the kitchen door and where chairs and a barbecue will sit.
A bigger patio needs a longer run of edging and careful levels. We use string lines and levels to set the finished height, plan any steps down to the lawn and keep the paving looking square and balanced. For wide areas, we can suggest a border, a change of laying pattern or a path through the lawn to break up the surface and link it to the gate.

Many houses around Carmarthen are built of stone, and paving looks right when it complements the walls. Natural stone and sandstone-look slabs tend to sit well beside traditional buildings, and porcelain suits a newer extension or a more modern look. We can bring samples so you can compare colours against your own walls in real daylight, which shows far more than a catalogue photo.
Open country gardens catch rain and wind, so a solid foundation and good drainage are essential. We excavate to a firm layer, compact a sub-base in stages, bed the slabs on mortar and lay to a fall. That way the surface sheds water and stays level through the seasons. Clean joints and neat edges against the house and borders finish the job.
Rural access can mean long drives, soft ground or gates that are not wide. We think about how materials and equipment reach your Carmarthen garden and protect lawns and tracks where we can. If field hedges or large trees are close to the planned patio, we will take a look and say whether anything needs attention first, since roots and falling leaves both affect paving.
A few jobs we have completed. We also work in and around Carmarthen.
Patio ConstructionWe cleared the old paving at the back of a Bridgend house, compacted the base and stacked new slabs ready for laying.

Patio ConstructionWe laid new grey paving slabs in a narrow Cardiff garden, with timber-edged gravel beds and a membrane-lined side strip.

Patio ConstructionWe replaced the front lawn of a red-brick terraced house in Neath with dark grey paving and a pale border of edging stones.

Porcelain offers a consistent, low-maintenance surface, while natural stone brings variation and character, and both depend on a properly built base.

The cost of a patio depends on its size, the paving you choose, the ground beneath it and how easily materials and waste can be moved.

Tree surgery is priced job by job rather than from a fixed list, so this guide explains what moves the cost up or down and how to get a firm figure.
Read the guide →Yes. Large patios are well within what we do. They need careful levels, solid edging and good drainage, and we plan these in from the start. We visit, mark the size out on the ground and agree it with you before any digging.
Natural stone and sandstone-look slabs usually blend well with traditional stonework and weather attractively. Porcelain can work too, particularly with a newer extension. We suggest looking at samples against the house in daylight before deciding. Whichever you choose, the base matters just as much.
They make the groundwork more important rather than impossible. We dig out to firmer ground, build a thicker, well-compacted sub-base where needed and lay the paving to a fall. Good drainage and a solid foundation matter more than the weather on the day.
