This Cardiff garden is long and narrow, backing onto a wooded bank, and the photos catch the patio part way through. New grey slabs are going down in the first, with raised timber edging and gravel beyond. The second shows a separate strip beside a shed, where weed membrane has been laid and golden gravel is being spread.

In the first photo, the grey riven-surface slabs of mixed sizes are laid on a bed, and some of the mortar is still visible between them. A wheelbarrow stands on the old path beside the new work, and spare slabs lean on the fence. Beyond the paving, two levels of timber edging hold stone and gravel, with garden tools stacked at the far end. The fences are painted dark grey, and a lattice-topped wall runs along the left.
The second photo shows a different, simpler job: a strip between a timber shed and a rendered wall. Black weed membrane has been rolled out over the ground, and golden gravel is being spread from the shed end. Membrane under gravel stops weeds pushing through and keeps the stone from sinking into soil. A clipped conifer hedge and a tall tree stand behind. Both areas are still being worked on rather than finished.
