This St Mellons garden has clipped hedges around three sides of a green lawn and a round paved patio with a table and chairs. The photo was taken as the job was finishing, with the ladder still leaning on the hedge on the right.

There is a tall, rounded hedge on the left, a long flat-topped one at the back and a deeper hedge on the right where the ladder stands. Cut leaves are still on the lawn beside it. The beds and edging are tidy, and the shrubs in the foreground have been left alone.
Cuttings from a hedge are easy to see on a green lawn, and they are awkward to lift from artificial grass, so we sweep and brush them up carefully at the end. Different hedges in one garden need different cuts, from a rounded top to a flat one. We check for nesting birds first and cut from the top down.
